Rev. John A. Clausen, 61, of Tiffin, passed away at 12:57 p.m., Thursday, September 6, 2012 at his residence.
John was born May 16, 1951 in Spring Valley, IL, to the late John H. Clausen and Joan (Johnson) Clausen who survives in Machesney Park, IL. He married Tamra (Pflug) Andrews, and they later divorced.
Other survivors include his three daughters, Sarah Clausen of Philadelphia, Krista (Bryan) Stallard of Findlay, Linnea Clausen of Columbus, a granddaughter, Anika Stallard, five brothers, Peter Clausen of Malden, IL, Steven Clausen of Loves Park, IL, James Clausen of St. Paul, MN, Michael Clausen of Albany GA, Jeffrey Clausen of Roscoe, IL, three sisters, Christine Clausen of Ingleside, TX, Jacqueline Bauer of Mendota, IL and Karen Osuga of Rockford, IL.
John was a life-long Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) pastor. His service to God touched many lives over the years including congregations in Olmsted Falls, Wapakoneta and Tiffin. For the past 13 years he has served St. John Lutheran Church in Deshler, OH.
He also enjoyed reading as well as writing poetry and church hymns, one of which was published. John also loved being a grandfather and was a Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. John was a 1969 graduate of Princeton High School and later attended West Point for 2 years. He graduated from Carthage College in 1974 and received his Master of Divinity from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago in 1978.
John was preceded in death by his father and an infant brother, Richard Clausen.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Tiffin with Bishop Marcus Lohrmann and Rev. Jan Kucera officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, from 4-8 p.m., at the Engle-Shook Funeral Home and Crematory in Tiffin. There will be no burial held at this time.
