Donald J. Thompson

Donald J. Thompson, 83, of Fremont, died at 6:50 a.m., Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at the Fremont Memorial Hospital.

Donald was born in Fort Wayne, IN, on May 6, 1929 to the late Donald R. and Euphemia “Mickey” (McMillan) Thompson. He married Shirley M. (Hepler) on January 25, 1952 in Tiffin at the First English Lutheran Church and she survives.

Donald is survived by his wife, Shirley of 60 years, four children, James (Sharon) Thompson of Virginia, George (Nadine) Thompson of Lindsey, Wanda (Larry) Perkins of Fremont, and Lori (Mark) Haaser of Pickerington, thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren a sister, Sharon (Wayne) Phillips of Prescott, AZ.

Donald was the owner/operator of Tommy’s Sales and Service in Fremont and also retired from Whirlpool after 22 ½ years. He was a United States Air Force Staff Sgt., working as a Flight Engineer stationed in Torbay Newfoundland with the North East Air Command “NEAC” during Korea.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and Gerald Thompson.

There will be no funeral services will be held at this time. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home and Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements. Burial will be held at Rock Creek cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Hospital Hospice.
